In 1972, Gloria Mitchell migrated to the Cayman Islands and married Deacon Clovis Wilks. Together that union produced four children- Fredrick, Sylvia, Michael and Lenford. Shortly after marriage the Wilks’ were assigned to missionary work in the Eastern districts. They started with Sunday School in the evenings which developed into day service and a one week crusade. In 1989 Pastor and Evangelist Wilks were appointed to pastor the West Bay New Testament Church of God. She gracefully held her role as first lady of the church and participated in every aspect of the church. Among the many roles she played she will be remembered especially for coordinating early morning prayer meetings and for her position as choir mistress. Evangelist Wilks Preached in various countries in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Bermuda), United States, United Kingdom and Canada. She made a valuable contribution to the gospel music industry as she produced eight volumes of her Pure Gold album. She hosted a gospel radio show on Radio Cayman and was the founder of Pure Gold Ministries which produces and hosts the local television programme “Gospel Insight.”

In 2002 Evangelist Gloria Wilks received her ministerial credentials from the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee and in 2003 she founded the Cayman Brac New Testament Church of God through her music ministry. She was officially appointed as Pastor for that same congregation in September 2003.

Evangelist Wilks received many awards and acknowledgments during her lifetime including a National Heroes’ Day award in recognition of exemplary Christian Service in 2010. Her other awards are the 1996 award from Impact gospel promotion N.I.G.A in Jamaica, 2000  Vintage Gospel music award, 2002 Mother of Gospel Award, 2003 Best Caribbean female singer and French International gospel award in New York, 2011 veteran in Gospel music award, 2012 Celebration of Gospel Award for spreading the gospel in the Cayman Islands and abroad and in 2013 the Cayman National Gospel Award for Cayman Gospel Insight and Legendary Gospel Award.
